World Summit on Environmental Accounting was held July 4-6, 2016 at Beijing Normal University

World Summit on Environmental Accounting 2016 - Emergy Analysis for Designing a Prosperous and Sustainable Future was held at Beijing Normal University, July 4 to July 6, 2016. The conference was followed by a short course taught by Dr. Mark Brown of the University of Florida and several guest lecturers, including Murray Patterson and Sergio Ulgiati. Professor Yang Zhifeng of the School of the Environment, Beijing Normal University and his team organized and carried out a very successful conference that included key note lectures by eight prominent scientists. Antonino Marvuglia, and Enrico Benetto of the Tudor Institute, Luxembourg spoke on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and emergy using the SCALEM software and LCA and the circular economy, respectively. Mark Brown and Sergio Ulgiati spoke on environmental accounting form a systems perspective. Mathias Wackernagel spore about the next generation of the global ecological footprint. Michael Bennett of Forest Trends spoke on international investments in ecosystem services in China. Walter Pengue of the University of Buenas Aires spoke on natural resources, environmental services and an integrated society from the perspective of the developing world. Finally, Tom Abel, current President of ISAER gave a talk on culture and emergy science. Dr. Yang served as the conference Program Chair and at the time he was also President of the China Chapter of the Emergy Society under whose auspices the conference was held.
